Our story begins in 2004 when Dr. Frances Stock, a pediatric oncologist based in Mérida, Venezuela, reached out to Dr. Zambrano through a common friend asking for help diagnosing a tumor from one of her little patients living in a very poor community in that South American country. Dr. Zambrano got immediately involved and, since then, he has received more than a thousand tissue samples from Dr. Stock's patients, lovingly wrapped in beautifully hand-painted boxes, and from other patients from low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), offering them hope for better treatments and a better quality of life.

I am a pathologist.
As such, I am a medical doctor specialized in analyzing tissue samples from patients, mostly kids who are ill, to try to discover what their specific illness is, and help their doctors treat them.
